Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW As a Manager – Engineering, you will lead cross‑functional engineering teams responsible for delivering solutions across backend, frontend, and integration layers. You will translate business priorities into clear execution plans, drive sprint outcomes, strengthen engineering quality, and ensure predictable, high‑confidence delivery.

This role combines people leadership, technical stewardship, and operational excellence, overseeing adherence to architectural guardrails, enforcing CI/CD and observability standards, maintaining strong security practices, and ensuring production‑ready solutions. You will work closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable platforms that align with enterprise engineering expectations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Strategy and Planning

  • Translate business goals into multi‑sprint engineering plans, capacity forecasts, and measurable outcomes for assigned squads
  • Apply engineering governance and platform guardrails; enforce coding standards, security, and data/privacy practices
  • Partner with Architecture to sequence modernization (e.g., service decomposition, API-first patterns) and reduce tech debt
  • Translate business and product goals into clear technical requirements and map them to appropriate GCP services to ensure scalable and cost‑efficient architecture choices Delivery and Execution
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery for features and releases across backend, frontend, and integrations; ensure performance, resiliency, and maintainability
  • Drive SDLC rigor: estimation, quality gates, code reviews, automated testing, and release governance HD Supply Private and Confidential Page 2
  • Use observability (logs, metrics, traces) to prevent incidents; lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Coordinate dependencies, manage risks/issues, and communicate status to stakeholders with clarity and consistency Support and Enablement
  • Improve developer productivity through AI assisted development, CI/CD, templates, and tooling; track and uplift DORA/quality metrics
  • Establish engineering playbooks, reusable libraries, and documentation to accelerate delivery and improve consistency
  • Champion shift‑left practices; partner with QA to uplift automation and non‑functional testing (security, performance) People Leadership
  • Lead a team of engineers and leads: set goals, coach, conduct reviews, and grow talent through mentorship and learning plans
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and retention for critical roles; build a culture of accountability, inclusion, and excellenc Requirements Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • PMP or Agile program management certification required; TOGAF certification preferred Required Experience
  • 9–12 years of progressive engineering experience with 2–4 years leading teams/squads or projects in enterprise environments
  • Proven delivery across backend, frontend, and integration streams with production ownership
  • Experience in global delivery models/GCC setups and cross‑functional collaboration Essential Skills
  • Solid grasp of service‑oriented/microservices patterns, APIs, and modular architecture; familiarity with Java ecosystems and integration tooling (GCP Sub/Pub, Kafka/RabbitMQ)
  • Experience in full-stack engineering with strong focus on Java, Spring Boot, cloud‑native microservices, React, including design, development, and production support
  • Strong SDLC discipline: backlog grooming, estimation, code review practices, automated testing, and release governance
  • Hands‑on understanding of CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions) and observability tools
  • Working knowledge of security and compliance standards (e.g., OWASP; awareness of SOX/GDPR/DPDP controls)
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and vendor coordination skills
  • Adept at evaluating system design options and aligning engineering decisions with Google Cloud reference architectures, service models, and best‑practice deployment patterns
  • Proficient in managing cloud‑based engineering initiatives, with working knowledge of GCP service groups, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and observability to guide teams in selecting the right cloud components Desired Skills
