Summary: The MHPSS Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services within communities. This position focuses on frontline engagement, ensuring individuals experiencing distress receive timely identification, support, and appropriate referrals. The assistant contributes to the implementation of group sessions, community awareness initiatives, and data collection efforts, all while upholding confidentiality and promoting mental health literacy.
By working closely with MHPSS officers, the assistant helps strengthen community resilience, reduce stigma, and ensure inclusive access to psychosocial care in line with humanitarian principles.
Responsibilities
Support the facilitation of psychosocial support group sessions and recreational activities to promote emotional well-being Assist in identifying individuals showing signs of psychological distress and support their timely referral to specialized services Maintain confidential case records, session attendance logs, and other essential documentation in line with data protection standards Contribute to the planning and delivery of community awareness sessions on mental health and available support services Provide psychological first aid during field visits and emergency response activities Assist in compiling and reporting MHPSS activity data for monitoring and evaluation purposes Engage with community members to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking behavior
