JOB DESCRIPTION: This role will start September 14th, 2026 Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Within designated authority and following established procedures, performs routine selection, evaluation, and rating of the least complex risks. Corresponds with our licensed agents on the decision.
- Identifies class codes and descriptions, correctly calculates premiums, penalties, rates, and other using the rate manual and control file. Additionally, selects correct classification of product/risk on bond submissions from the 8,000 surety products. Selects the correct bond form from the library of 7,500 forms based upon the 50,000 obligees.
- Identifies exception processing by obligee and agency/program preferences and applies rules accordingly.
- Completes data entry and file preparation of new business or notary business utilizing the BPST/HOD application, or performs the completion of bond, policy, and related forms using a typewriter or data base application; or operate a PC to compile business correspondence.
- Effectively navigates from multiple system applications to process business correspondence. Understand and be proficient in the use of the system applications including (ImageRight Workflow, Email Form Letters, and Outlook); and PC software including (Surety Forms Generator, IVANS, Book Manager, Risk Scoring, and Credit Report).
- Cross trains in a variety of business types including cancellations, adjustments, renewals, notary, typing, word processing, and direct bill.
- Exhibits a thorough knowledge of business correspondence and the proper workflow path of each item. (Transaction types, new biz, adjustment, renewal)
- Communicates frequently in a professional manner with agents via telephone, fax or written correspondence as required.
- Participates in key account business relationships through processing, telephone contact with multiple internal and external groups such as clients, obligee contact, and underwriting contacts.
- Provides assistance and/or training to other Underwriting Associates as needed. May perform additional duties and project work as assigned. Reporting Relationship Typically Manager or above Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Education
& Experience
- Typically, a High school diploma or equivalent.
