Our client, a world leader in biotechnology and gene therapy, is looking for an “Scientist II – Oligonuleotide Synthesis” based in South San Francisco, CA. Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension) Pay Rate : $53/hr on W2 Company Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Sick leave, 401K We are seeking a Scientist II to join the Nucleic Acid Design and Discovery (NADD) team.
This role focuses on oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery, supporting RNAi-based research through synthesis, characterization, and collaboration across therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute oligonucleotide synthesis and purification workflows. Perform HPLC and mass spectrometry analysis for characterization and impurity profiling. Support RNAi and nucleic acid therapeutic discovery across neuroscience, immunology, and oncology programs. Develop and scale up synthesis of lead oligonucleotide candidates for preclinical studies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chemistry and biology data. Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment (e.g., oligo synthesizers, HPLC systems). Conduct literature reviews and contribute to experimental design and strategy.
Qualifications
BS/MS in Organic Chemistry or related field. Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and characterization. Experience with automated oligo synthesizers, HPLC, and mass spectrometry. Understanding of RNAi, nucleic acid therapeutics, and modification chemistries preferred. Industry experience in biotech/pharma R&D is a plus.
