Head of Engineering — India Engineering Center Level: Senior Director / VP

- Location: Hyderabad, India (onsite, 3–5 days/week) About the company A global technology company serving the entertainment and media industry, with a portfolio of SaaS products used by professionals worldwide. Headquartered in the US, with operations across North America, the UK, Australia, and India. The role We're looking for a strategic, hands-on engineering leader to serve as Head of Engineering and site lead for our India Engineering Center. You'll build and scale high-performing teams, partner with global stakeholders, and drive the delivery of our products and platforms — shaping the India center's contribution to the business while acting as a trusted partner to the executive team. You'll lead an organization of ~35–40 engineers through 3 direct reports: Head of Data Engineering, Head of Emerging Platforms, and Head of Mobile & Video.
What we're looking for
10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles Experience building and leading engineering teams (~40+ engineers/managers) in dynamic, fast-paced environments A mix of enterprise and start-up / scale-up experience Track record of building products, platforms, and teams at scale Experience working with US-based companies and managing globally distributed teams Ability to influence and build trust with executives and peers across geographies Skilled at aligning technical initiatives with business objectives and delivering impact Experience leading teams through organizational or technological transformation Strong understanding of software development, mobile, AI, and data engineering Comfortable balancing strategic goals with tactical, hands-on execution Key responsibilities Lead, inspire, and grow the India engineering organization across software, mobile, and data engineering.
Partner with the executive team to define and execute the engineering strategy, aligning India-center goals with overall business objectives. Attract, hire, retain, and develop top talent; mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high EQ. Work closely with US-based teams and global hubs to ensure seamless collaboration and communication, leveraging time-zone diversity for continuous delivery.
Oversee delivery of multiple products and platforms at speed and scale, optimizing for simplification and consolidation. Champion modern tools, technologies, and best practices, leading the team through change with adaptability and resilience.
