Lead Accountant

Together, let’s awaken the world. We are looking for a full-time, qualified Lead Accountant to provide financial services for different legal entities within the Hästens Group. This position will be responsible for performing day-to-day accounting for companies across multiple countries, primarily in the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as reviewing and overseeing accounting for China, India, Germany, and Hong Kong, which is prepared by external accountants.

About the role

Handle all day-to-day accounting, including accounts receivable and accounts payable Collate information for VAT and tax reporting, which is handled by external specialists Process incoming and outgoing payments Perform bank reconciliations Process and pay suppliers’ invoices Maintain prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset registers Prepare monthly management accounts for the respective companies Reconcile inventory within the accounting system Support and ensure compliance with all finance filing requirements, with the assistance of local experts Coordinate and liaise with external parties such as auditors, accounting agencies, tax agents, corporate secretarial agents, and local tax and government authorities where required Maintain intercompany balances by reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies Ensure consistent coding in line with the Group’s chart of accounts Deliver periodic financial reports to management Assist with the implementation of new processes and system integrations Work closely with the finance team to ensure alignment in ways of working Skills and requirements Highly motivated and committed Willing to drive change and improvements Fully qualified accountant Based in Malta Fluent in English At least 3 years of experience in handling accounts; audit experience is considered an asset Willing to travel abroad as needed Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal structures is considered beneficial Advanced Excel skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Well-organized with a hands-on, problem-solving attitude Flexible and able to meet internal and statutory deadlines
