Senior Acountant - Construction
Job description
Manage construction-related accounting, project financial reporting, cost tracking, reconciliations, payment verification, and compliance to support accurate decision-making and financial control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Accounting
- Maintain accurate project accounts, cost centers, WIP records, budgets, commitments, and accruals.
- Record contractor, consultant, supplier, retention, advance payment, and variation transactions. Payments & Controls
- Review invoices, payment certificates, LPOs, contracts, delivery notes, and approvals before posting or payment.
- Ensure payments follow the company authority matrix, contract terms, and supporting document requirements. Reporting
- Prepare monthly project financial reports, budget vs actual analysis, cash flow updates, and cost-to-complete summaries.
- Support management with profitability, receivables, payables, and project exposure reports. Reconciliation & Compliance
- Perform bank, supplier, contractor, intercompany, escrow, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support audits, tax filings, documentation requests, and accounting standard compliance. Coordination
- Coordinate with projects, procurement, sales, legal, and management on financial matters.
- Maintain organized accounting files and ensure timely month-end closing.
Requirements
Education
& Certifications Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent certification preferred. Experience 5+ years in accounting with at least 3 years in construction, contracting, or real estate development accounting. Technical Competencies Project accounting, ERP systems, Excel, VAT, reconciliations, payment certificates, cost centers, financial reporting.
