Job description

Our client is a manufacturing multinational and they are looking for an Application Specialist

  • Assembly Process Control (APC). He/She will be responsible for supporting and accelerating business development for the Assembly Process Control portfolio across the Region East. Based in the RHQ in Kuala Lumpur, this role bridges the gap between customers’ assembly process requirements and the force–displacement monitoring solutions (NCFN/NCFE systems, maXYmos, joining platforms, and related process control technologies). The position works closely with local sales teams, system integrators, and the Business Unit APC in Switzerland, providing advanced technical consulting, on-site support, and customer training.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze customer assembly processes and identify opportunities for force–displacement monitoring or closed-loop joining systems. Recommend suitable solutions based on technical requirements, ROI calculations, and process improvement goals. Perform feasibility studies, sample evaluations, and technical clarifications with customers and integrators.

Support the Outside Sales Representatives (OSR) in technical qualification of opportunities, preparing specifications and system architectures. Lead technical presentations, demonstrations (on-site or remote), and proof-of-concept validations. Develop ROI and productivity improvement arguments to strengthen the value-selling approach.

Participate in installation, configuration, commissioning, and acceptance tests at customer facilities. Provide structured training to customers, integrators, and field service teams, ensuring operational autonomy. Escalate complex technical issues to the BU-APC, keeping ownership until successful closure. Serve as the regional technical liaison between R-EAST and the BU-APC in Switzerland.

Document all application learnings, reports, and best practices to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Promote collaboration across countries and build a database of regional application references.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in assembly automation, joining processes, industrial automation, or application engineering. Experience with force monitoring, displacement measurement, joining systems, servopress, or similar technologies is a strong advantage.

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, process diagrams, and automation layouts. Strong communication and analytical skills; able to interact with both engineers and executives. Cross-cultural collaboration is a must. Fluent in English; additional regional language(s) are an added advantage. Mobility to travel across the region (40–50%).
