MIG Welder - Second Chance Company - 2nd Shift

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Welder / Fabricator to join our clients 2nd shift maintenance team. This position will work closely with our diesel mechanics to repair, reinforce, and fabricate components for a fleet of garbage and refuse trucks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and can work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

Perform MIG, Stick, and other welding processes as required Repair damaged truck bodies, containers, frames, and structural components Fabricate brackets, supports, panels, and replacement parts Cut, grind, fit, and assemble metal components Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measurements Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and durability Work alongside diesel mechanics on vehicle repairs and modifications Operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment safely Maintain a clean and organized work area Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements Qualifications Previous welding and fabrication experience required Experience with MIG welding preferred Ability to read a tape measure accurately Ability to use grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and fabrication tools Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Requirements Preferred Experience Heavy equipment, truck, trailer, or fleet repair Refuse truck or waste industry experience Structural steel fabrication Hydraulic equipment repair support Manufacturing or industrial welding Physical Requirements Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions throughout the shift Ability to work in a shop environment that may be hot, dirty, and physically demanding Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment Benefits This is a temp to hire position and benefits are available upon full hire
