Java Engineer

We're looking for a Java Engineer to join our DHA EIDS team, building and maintaining the backend services and integrations that power enterprise health data delivery across the Military Health System.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and develop backend services and APIs in Java (Java 11/17+) and .NET (ASP.NET Core / .NET 6+)
• Build and maintain REST APIsand microservices usingSpring BootandASP.NET Core
• Work across the full backend stack including business logic, data access, and API integrations
• Write clean, well-tested code using JUnit,xUnit/NUnit, and test-driven development practices
• Leverage AI-assisted development toolssuch asClaude CodeorCursor to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality and security
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelinesand DevOps practices usingGit,GitHub Actions, or similar tooling
• Participate in code reviews, technical design, and Agile ceremonies

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong Javaproficiency with hands-on experience in modern Java and theSpring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, JPA/Hibernate)
• .NETdevelopment experience includingC#,ASP.NET Core, and Web API development
• Proficiency in SQLand relational databases such asMS SQL ServerorOracle
• Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding toolssuch asClaude CodeorCursor for development tasks
• Experience with Docker,Kubernetes, orAWS is a plus
• Understanding of federal security and compliance requirements is a plus
• Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and genuinely enjoys working closely with a cross-functional team
• Communicates clearly and openly, whether in a code review or a cross-team planning session
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Compensation:

At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.

United States Wage Range: $100,000 – $140,000
