Bristol Ambulance (Part of EMED Group) have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanic (Fleet) to join our team based just off the feeder road in Bristol. As a Mechanic you are responsible for keeping the organisation’s vehicle fleet safe, reliable, compliant, and operational. This includes carrying out planned and emergency maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs, while identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, and safety issues.
Yoi will work closely with the Fleet Team, Operations, Station Leads, and management to reduce vehicle downtime and ensure vehicles are available when needed. We’re looking for a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to help keep our fleet safe, reliable, and ready to respond. Working hours - 08:00-16:00, 5 days a week.

£42,000.00 per annum Ongoing training and professional development opportunities A dynamic and varied working environment Company pension scheme On-site parking 28 days holiday per year Role Responsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance & Servicing Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, inspections, and safety checks in line with manufacturer and organisational requirements.
Maintain key vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, lights, fluids, and associated equipment. Fleet Support Work closely with operational teams to manage vehicle downtime and minimise disruption to service delivery. Monitor vehicle condition, respond to reported defects, and prioritise repairs based on safety and operational needs.
Vehicle Safety & Compliance Complete and accurately record required safety inspections, servicing, MOTs, and statutory checks. Identify and appropriately manage safety-critical defects, ensuring unsafe vehicles are not returned to service. Equipment & Specialist Systems Support equipment installation, removal, or replacement while ensuring vehicle safety and compliance are maintained.
Liaise with specialist suppliers or contractors where additional technical expertise is required. Parts, Tools & Workshop Management Maintain appropriate stocks of vehicle parts, consumables, and materials required for planned and reactive maintenance Keep accurate records of parts and materials used and report damaged, defective, or missing equipment Do you have what it takes?
Level 3 Motor Vehicle Technician qualification ( essential ) Full UK manual driving licence Proven experience working as a vehicle mechanic or technician. Experience maintaining commercial or operational vehicles is advantageous. Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills. Good understanding of vehicle safety and maintenance requirements.
Excellent attention to detail. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability. Ability to prioritise safety-critical repairs. Good organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider Fleet Team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate technical and maintenance records.
