About the Role
The Adjunct Instructor for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program plays a critical role in delivering high-quality education to undergraduate students pursuing careers in social work. This position involves designing and facilitating engaging course content that aligns with the program’s learning objectives and accreditation standards.
The instructor will foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, ethical practice, and professional development. Additionally, the role requires staying current with social work theories, practices, and policies to ensure students receive relevant and practical knowledge. Ultimately, the Adjunct Instructor contributes to preparing competent, compassionate social work professionals ready to make a positive impact in diverse communities.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a social worker in the United States. Demonstrated experience in social work practice or teaching at the undergraduate level. Strong understanding of social work ethics, policies, and evidence-based practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in an online or hybrid learning environment. Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies in social work education. Experience working with diverse and underserved populations. Additional certifications or training in specialized social work areas such as mental health, child welfare, or community organizing.
Active involvement in professional social work organizations.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver course lectures, assignments, and assessments in accordance with the BSW curriculum. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and professional skills. Maintain regular communication with students through office hours, email, and online platforms to address questions and provide guidance.
Collaborate with program faculty and staff to ensure curriculum alignment and continuous improvement of course content. Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required to stay informed about program updates and best teaching practices. Skills: The required skills enable the instructor to effectively communicate complex social work concepts and foster an engaging learning environment that supports student success.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for mentoring students and addressing their individual learning needs. Organizational skills are used daily to manage course materials, grading, and student communications efficiently.
Preferred skills
such as experience with online teaching platforms enhance the ability to deliver flexible and accessible education. Additionally, familiarity with curriculum development allows the instructor to contribute to continuous program improvement and ensure alignment with accreditation standards. 9-2
