Systems Engineer Hardware Integration & MBSE | Missile Defense Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80 We are hiring a Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) Product Team on the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) .
This role focuses on hardware systems engineering, hardware-to-software integration, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements development, DOORS, Cameo, Agile methodologies, and system integration and test in support of mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) missile defense programs.
Responsibilities
Support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) Product Team through all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle. Perform requirements decomposition, system design, system integration, verification, validation, and testing for hardware and software systems. Develop and maintain hardware-to-software interface definitions supporting complex missile defense systems.
Perform hardware fault analysis and support mechanical and electrical hardware design activities. Define and evaluate mechanical and electrical hardware interfaces to ensure system compatibility and performance. Conduct technical planning, system integration, verification and validation (V&V), cost analysis, risk analysis, supportability assessments, and effectiveness evaluations.
Translate customer and product requirements into complete hardware and software solutions while balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, interface definition, and requirements allocation. Utilize IBM DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles using Cameo Systems Modeler. Support Agile development activities using Jira and Confluence to manage work products, documentation, and program execution. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver mission-critical hardware and software capabilities supporting the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense Weapon System.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law Active, in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance required. Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical discipline preferred. Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience.
Experience with hardware engineering, including hardware-to-software interfaces, mechanical and electrical hardware design, hardware interface development, testing, and hardware fault analysis. Experience performing systems engineering activities including technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, supportability analysis, and risk analysis.
Experience translating customer requirements into integrated hardware and software solutions. Experience performing functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition. Experience using IBM DOORS for requirements management. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools. Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and Cameo Systems Modeler.
Ability to work onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), or other missile defense programs. Experience performing Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) in accordance with MIL-STD-810 . Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technologies. Experience with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing and design in accordance with MIL-STD-461 .
Experience with Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) in accordance with MIL-STD-464 . Experience supporting High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) protection requirements in accordance with MIL-STD-188-125-1 and MIL-STD-188-125-2 . Experience performing Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) in accordance with MIL-HDBK-344 .
Experience with strategic planning, systems engineering process improvement, and technical execution. Demonstrated success leading cross-functional engineering initiatives and mentoring technical teams. Experience driving engineering process improvements and supporting complex technical programs.
