Job description
MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. Job Purpose The Shop Helper is responsible for maintaining the Valve Engineering and Modification Center (VEMC) shop grounds and assisting departments with the day-to-day operations at the VEMC facility.
Key Duties & Responsibilities The Role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform required manufacturing facility housekeeping. Operate forklifts. Operate overhead (up to 25-ton capacity) and jib cranes. Use of light mechanical work using hand tools. Work with machining tools, welding, and hydrostatic test machines.
Load and unload large valves up to 30,000 LBS. Support all functions of the VEMC modification process (welding, testing, and machining). Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience High school diploma or a GED (General Education Degree). Skills & Abilities Ability to use all forklift equipment. Familiarity in working with machining, welding, and hand tools.
Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Ability to take initiative and be a self-motivator. Working Conditions Ability to work in warehouse conditions, exposed to various elements of temperature and noise. (non-climate-controlled).
