Job description
We’re looking for a Controller who will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function for Dias Canada. This is a hands-on role for someone who can produce reliable financial information, understand what is happening in the business, and act when the numbers or processes do not make sense. You’ll work closely with the CFO, the finance team, project managers and operations.
We need someone who is comfortable asking questions, following issues through to resolution and improving how work gets done, not simply reporting the results after the fact. What you’ll own Financial close and reporting: Lead the month-end and year-end close, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and prepare timely financial and management reporting.
Project financial performance: Work with project managers and operations to understand costs, revenue, work in progress, margins and variances. Identify issues early and turn the analysis into useful action. Billing and working capital: Ensure project work is invoiced accurately and in line with contracts and milestones.
Monitor receivables, cash flow and items that need follow-up. Controls and compliance: Maintain sound accounting processes, support the annual external review, and ensure financial records and required filings are complete and accurate. Finance operations and improvement: Provide direction and support across accounting activities.
Find recurring problems, address their causes and build practical tools or processes that give the business better visibility. What you bring Substantial hands-on accounting experience, including ownership of financial close and reporting. Strong judgement in project accounting, cost analysis, revenue recognition and contract-based billing.
The ability to work directly with operational teams, challenge assumptions constructively and explain financial issues clearly. Experience improving processes, not just working within them. Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems. QuickBooks experience is useful. An accounting or finance degree; a CPA designation or progress towards one is preferred.
