Job description
Tractor-Trailer Driver (CDL Class A) for Laredo, Texas The CDL Class A Driver will safely and efficiently deliver materials to customers and between PMI locations in a timely and professional manner. This position requires safe driving, good customer service, proper paperwork, and following all company and DOT rules. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understand PMI Pipe Steel & Supplies' mission
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer with a Class A CDL
- Follow all state, federal, DOT, and company driving rules
- Deliver material safely and on time
- Check that the trailer is safely connected to the tractor
- Safely move the truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas
- Follow directions from warehouse staff during loading and unloading
- Help load and unload material when needed
- Make sure all material is properly secured with straps, chains, blocks, or other approved equipment
- Review and follow delivery instructions
- Communicate with branch manager, sales team, warehouse team, and other employees as needed
- Complete all required delivery, vehicle, and inventory paperwork
- Preform a vehicle inspection before and after each workday
- Keep signed invoices, bills or landing, and other delivery paperwork organized and return them to the correct person
- Communicate truck services and maintenance needs to the SEFF Corodinator
- Report truck problems, accidents, damage, or violations right away
- Track and report working hours using required system
- Move and organize trailers in the yard when needed
- Follow all company rules and safety procedures
- Driver safely for road, traffic, and weather conditions
- Make safety a priority at all times
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be at least 25 years of age for company insurance requirements
- Must have strong customer service skills
- Must communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
- Must be able to stay focused in a busy work environment
- Must be dependable and responsible
- Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
Education and Experience
- Valid Class A Commerical Driver License (CDL) required
- Must pass required background checks and drug testing along with meet all DOT requirements
- Experience driving a tractor-trailer preferred
- Experience operating warehouse equipment Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and drive for long periods
- Must be able to lift and move up to 80 pounds
- Must be able to travel frequently
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to squat, twist, reach and stand/walk for an entire workday
