Patient Relations Coordinator - Patient Engagement

Work Shift: Day - 8 Hour (United States of America)8:00am - 4:30pm (40 Weekly Hours) / Monday
- Friday The Patient Relations Coordinator will act to strengthen, personalize and enhance the relationship between the patient and hospital by maintaining a specific, effective channel through which patients can seek solutions to problems, concerns or unmet needs. Acts as a liaison between the patients, family and hospital staff during hospitalization providing necessary mediation to ensure patient rights are respected. The patient relations representative will also serve as a liaison between the patient and the Risk Management Department in handling patient and/or family complaints. Representative will intercede in and handle as many patient/visitor complaints as possible before referring to Administration. Will also act to provide emotional support to patient families during major trauma, codes, serious illness, or death situations as deemed appropriate.
Education
& Training: High School graduate or GED equivalent. Experience: Three (3) years professional experience in public relations, social services, or related field. Patient Representative experience or experience relating to individuals in stressful situations. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure: None. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Self-directed with strong facilitation and coaching skills.
Ability to use independent judgment in the coordination of complex issues. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to prioritize and multi-task. Able to motivate individuals. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills. Strong organizational skills. Facilitation and consensus-building skills.
