HEAD OF INTERNAL SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT Location: Lakeside Office, Cosham, Portsmouth (Hybrid: 1 day per week onsite) ABOUT LEAD FORENSICS Lead Forensics is a rapidly growing SaaS leader providing innovative solutions in the B2B sales and marketing space. THE ROLE We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Head of Internal Systems Development to lead the team responsible for the design, development, integration, and operation of our internal business-critical platforms. Key focus areas include guiding pragmatic build vs. buy decisions, integrating third-party tools, and shaping the evolution of our internal CRM and its interactions with wider business systems.
This is a blended leadership and technical role. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, steer technical design decisions, and ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions are delivered. You will provide day-to-day leadership, contribute to the codebase, and cultivate a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder Management
- Drive planning cycles with business stakeholders to define and prioritize the system roadmap
- Gather, document, and refine business and non-functional requirements, including security, reliability, and auditability
- Oversee stakeholder reviews to confirm deliverables meet organizational needs Implementation & Operations
- Lead the solution design and refinement process to provide actionable work for the team
- Guide and participate in implementation, directly supporting the team and removing blockers
- Ensure all systems built offer quality, maintainability, security, and operational excellence
- Provide ongoing support for deployed systems and lead swift resolution of production issues and incidents People Management & Culture
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and collaboration
- Conduct regular 1:1s, support career development, and encourage skill advancement
- Run retrospectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion company values, acting as an exemplary role model and cultivating a positive work environment REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration abilities, including direct engagement with C-suite stakeholders
- Deep experience in full stack development, especially with .NET, MS SQL Server, and hybrid Azure hosting
- Proven capability in programming, problem solving, and quickly adopting new technologies
- Sound commercial judgment in designing/building scalable and maintainable systems
- Expertise in system architecture, domain modeling, and application of SOLID principles and design patterns
- Experience fostering clean code practices and engineering excellence within teams
- Robust knowledge of automated testing, quality assurance, and operational best practices
- Passion for designing systems that are secure and high-performing
- Foundational understanding of Agentic AI systems (strongly desirable) Desirable:
- Background in CI/CD and Dev. Sec. Ops environments
