Job description
Overview
7am to 7pm Under the direction of the director/supervisor/charge nurse, the exercise specialist assists in the daily operation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department through the instruction and supervision of clients during exercise sessions.
Responsibilities
- Documents care provision per departmental standards. Inclusive of utilizing the unit specific documentation
- Provides physical, emotional and educational support to patients on an ongoing basis
- Demonstrates compliance with all HCAHPS behaviors to allow patients and families to have an excellent hospital experience
- Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame.
- Engages in departmental/hospital committees, PI projects, educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members.
- Attends Staff Meetings, completes all required competencies and mandatory education as assigned.
- Seeks training, educational, certification and enhancement in area focus/specialty.
- Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients and family members.
- Completes other duties as requested/assigned Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or Sports Medicine Licensure/Certification/Registratio n BLS Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required Previous experience in an undergraduate cardiac rehabilitation/wellness center or one (1) year practical experience preferred One (1) year experience in developing exercise prescriptions for high-risk populations in a hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation or wellness center program preferred Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
