SUMMARY: Under supervision, the Dental Hygienist delivers preventive oral care and education to patients of all ages, building trusted partnerships to promote lifelong oral health and wellness.
Office located in the coastal community of Crescent City in Del Norte County, this area is defined by its beautiful bay, surrounding redwoods, and strong sense of community. Residents, alongside neighboring Tribal communities, are deeply engaged in strengthening and supporting the region. While more remote, this site offers providers the opportunity to practice collaborative, relationship-centered care within a team-based model while serving a diverse and underserved population.
Providers build trusted, long-term relationships with patients, playing an integral role in improving access to care in a rural setting. The community is supported by a local hospital system, regional air service, and proximity to southern Oregon, offering connectivity while maintaining a small-town coastal feel.
Compensation
$86,528.00-$99,403.20 The Dental Hygienist performs duties consistent with the scope of practice for a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in California. Evaluate patients’ oral health, including assessment of teeth, gums, and supporting structures Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) Identify and document areas of concern; communicate findings to the dentist Perform periodontal assessments and examine for signs of gum disease Conduct oral cancer screenings (intra- and extra-oral) Provide preventive dental care, including removal of plaque, calculus, and stains Apply sealants and administer local anesthesia within scope of practice Develop, implement, and document individualized dental hygiene care plans Deliver oral health education and counseling to patients of all ages Recommend treatments aligned with each patient’s needs and abilities Collaborate with dentists and care team members to ensure high-quality patient care Follow established infection control, safety, and health protocols Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with diverse patients and teams Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Effective communication skills, with a focus on patient education and advocacy Comfort handling challenging situations with professionalism and empathy Strong organizational and documentation skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems Commitment to organizational policies, procedures, and patient care standards EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required Graduate of an accredited, board-approved Dental Hygiene program Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of California Current CPR certification SUPERVISION Reports to the Vice President of Dental Services and/or Site Dental Director No supervisory responsibilities PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.
