Hiring Unit: Faculty of Science PLEASE NOTE : This position is only available to current Mc. Gill students. Students from all Mc. Gill faculties are welcome to apply. Position Summary: The Faculty of Science at Mc. Gill University aims to be a leader in scientific discovery and in finding solutions critical to economic and human development, including key questions in the environmental sciences, new materials, and new technologies.

We’re looking for a communications intern to join our team and help us share the stories of the Faculty of Science. What you can expect: An open and collaborative work environment with a supportive, flexible team Professional growth through the careful setting of your own goals To build a portfolio of professional science communications content An internship that allows you to be, first and foremost, a student Responsibilities: Contribute to building awareness of Faculty of Science research, students, publications, events, and other initiatives, consistent with the University and Faculty’s missions and strategic direction.

Generate written content related to the Faculty (articles, social media posts, newsletter, web copy, etc.) Assist with the Faculty of Science social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and newsletter Produce videos about the Faculty of Science and its students and faculty Assist in promoting activities/events of the Faculty of Science with the goal of engaging the Mc.

Gill community Photograph research initiatives and events Assist Faculty of Science communication team with media production Conduct interviews with faculty members and students on campus Collaborate with Faculty of Science staff on other multimedia tasks as needed Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Excellent written communication Demonstrated experience producing and editing videos for social media, including Instagram Reels Demonstrated video and photography experience in varied lighting and sound conditions Reliable, with strong organization and time management skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision Familiarity with social media tools and platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite, Envoke, etc.)

Graphic design experience and familiarity with Canva an asset Knowledge of the Faculty of Science an asset Fluency in French (ability to write and translate content) an asset Familiarity with Drupal WMS (Mc. Gill website) system an asset Knowledge of French and English Experience and education : High School Diploma with two years of relevant experience in the field of work Before applying, please note that to work at Mc.
