The station is in the #2 ranked television market in the country.
Weekly, our team at ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming, contribute to daily operations of a major market television station, and learn about what we do. We are looking for an intern to join our collaborative team.
You will be provided a view of all aspects of content creation, production and operations of our Community Engagement & Development department at ABC7. This includes working individually or as part of a team on original multiplatform storytelling and supporting station-corporate initiatives and events originated by ABC7!
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027.
What You Will Do
Produce original digital, streaming and social media content, from concept to completion. Distribute ABC7 Community content across abc7.com/community, our owned platforms and news app. Engage our ABC7 Community audience across our social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X and Threads. Assist with internal communications and events, including our station newsletter, digital informational signage, heritage month events, and other KABC functions.
Assist in the management and operation of our ABC7 Street Team events across So. Cal. Interact with ABC7 viewers, community and corporate partners in person and online. Connect with community-based non-profit organizations, and the communities that interact with and are supported by ABC7. Required Qualifications & Skills Major or previous coursework in journalism, communications, community engagement, corporate citizenship & social responsibility, event planning, urban development and/or social media/branding Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Previous experience working in an office setting, including answering emails and phone calls Experience using social media platforms to engage with an audience Preferred Qualifications Ability to ideate and execute production of vertical videos Familiarity with Edits, Cap.
Cut, and other vertical video tools Demonstrative video editing experience and/or ability to edit and write original storytelling for multiple platforms Experience using Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet, Airtable, and/or Google Docs Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing Education Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related major Junior or Senior year preferred Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements: Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship Be at least 18 years of age Possess unrestricted work authorization Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program Additional Information Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027 Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends) Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work The pay rate for this role in California is $18.
