Job description

Carr Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and surgery.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment — balancing exam room care, surgical support, and client communication. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital.

Who You Are:

  • Licensed RVT in good standing in North Carolina
  • Out-of-state credentialed technicians eligible to transfer their license to NC
  • Recent graduates actively awaiting VTNE results or in the licensure process
  • Experienced Veterinary Assistants who are currently pursuing or planning to pursue their RVT licensure

What You'll Do:

  • Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Perform dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintain accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identify patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation:** $20 - 23 **per hour, for each hour worked (based on skills and credentials)
  • Schedule: This is a full-time position, working approximately 4.5 days per week, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday. No weekends and no on-call requirements.

  • Bonus package: $2000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of North Carolina

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience REQUIRED

  • Active and good-standing **Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) **in the state of North Carolina strongly preferred

  • Exotics animal experience is preferred

  • Proficiency in the following skills:

  • Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring

  • Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery

  • Surgical assistance and aseptic technique

  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography

  • Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement

  • Radiology positioning and safety protocols

  • Client education and communication

**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
