Job description

General Description: The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team, responsible for supporting the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and ensuring accounts are reconciled timely and accurately. Essential Job Responsibilities: Account for and reconcile balances across Summit Farms and all related entities timely and accurately Support the financial close for Summit Farms and its affiliates, including preparing and booking recurring journal entries for property taxes, property insurance, and monthly cost of goods sold Perform month-end and year-end close duties, including accruals, allocations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation and distribution of financial statements Prepare fund reporting for the investment funds Summit Ag sponsors Support other accounting functions, including accounts receivable and accounts payable, as needed Work with departments across the organization to obtain required accounting information Assist with special projects within the department Perform other duties as assigned Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and 1-2 years of directly related experience (relevant internship experience counts) Experience with accounting/ERP software Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Familiarity with AI tools (e.

g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) is preferred Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a weekly workload, maintain attention to detail, and work in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and recommend process improvements Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Work Environment: This position works in an office setting with regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets Physicality Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
