Location United Kingdom – Hybrid (home office plus regular client-site and Skill. Net office days) Employment Type Permanent, full-time Reports To VP -Client Engagement Team Strategic Consulting – EMEA Engagement Management group Travel Domestic UK/EMEA client travel as required; occasional international travel About Skill.
Net Solutions Skill. Net Solutions is a global technology consulting firm delivering eCommerce, order management, point-of-sale, and digital commerce implementations for retail and consumer brands. Our Client Engagement division partners with clients from initial discovery through go-live and beyond, blending onshore and offshore delivery talent to execute complex, multi-workstream retail technology programs.
The Role We're looking for an Engagement Manager to join our EMEA team and own the client relationship and delivery oversight for a portfolio of retail technology engagements, with particular emphasis on Oracle Retail Xstore point-of-sale implementations, upgrades, and cutover programs. You'll sit at the intersection of client leadership, project delivery, and Skill.
Net's commercial goals — running steering committees, managing scope and financials, and keeping cross-functional teams (PMs, BAs, architects, developers, onshore and offshore) aligned and accountable. You'll join a peer group of Engagement Managers reporting directly to the VP of Client Engagement, working alongside Strategic Consulting and Global Presales colleagues across Skill.
Net's matrix organization.
What You'll Do
Serve as the primary client-facing owner for assigned EMEA retail accounts, building and nurturing trusted relationships with client sponsors and stakeholders. Lead client steering committees and executive status reviews, preparing pre-reads, tracking actions, and driving decisions to closure. Manage the full engagement lifecycle for Oracle Retail Xstore point-of-sale programs — including version upgrades, new-store rollouts, and cutover/go-live planning — in partnership with Project Managers and technical leads.
Own engagement financials: track budget, margin, and consultant utilization against targets, and course-correct when indicators signal risk. Develop and negotiate Statements of Work (SOWs) and Change Requests (CRs), coordinating estimates and scope with delivery and offshore leadership. Coordinate resourcing and hard-booking requests across onshore and offshore, multi-vendor delivery teams, ensuring the right skills are in place at the right time.
Manage risks, issues, and escalations throughout delivery, maintaining RAID logs and driving mitigation with project leadership. Identify opportunities to expand Skill. Net's footprint within existing accounts, working closely with sales and presales colleagues. Ensure engagements follow Skill. Net delivery standards, templates, and governance processes across waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery models.
Provide regular reporting to Skill. Net leadership on account health, financials, and delivery status.
What You'll Bring
9+ years of experience in IT consulting, professional services, or systems integration, with meaningful exposure to eCommerce or retail technology programs. Hands-on experience with Oracle Retail Xstore or a comparable retail point-of-sale / store commerce platform strongly preferred; familiarity with order management, ERP, or pricing/inventory systems is a plus.
Demonstrated experience owning client relationships and running steering committees or equivalent executive governance forums. Experience managing engagement financials — budget, margin, and utilization — and reporting on program KPIs. Track record developing SOWs, CRs, and project plans, and negotiating scope, deliverables, and terms with clients.
Experience coordinating onshore-offshore, multi-vendor delivery teams across time zones. Comfortable operating across waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery methodologies. Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to manage senior stakeholders and navigate ambiguity. Based in the UK and able to travel to client sites across the UK/EMEA as needed.
Nice to Have
Prior experience on Xstore upgrade or cutover/go-live programs specifically (e.g., version upgrades, big-bang go-lives). Familiarity with adjacent Oracle Retail modules (ORCE, RMS) or other retail commerce platforms. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project/program management certification. Experience working within a matrixed consulting organization spanning Client Management, Strategic Consulting, and Presales functions.
Education
Degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
