Job description
The Phlebotomist I is responsible for safely and efficiently collecting venous and capillary blood samples and a variety of other specimen types from pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing approved techniques for diagnostic testing. This role ensures proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
The incumbent collaborates with nursing, laboratory, and other clinical staff to provide timely and accurate specimen collection, supporting quality patient care and laboratory operations. The Phlebotomist performs other laboratory duties including use of the laboratory computer system, answering phones, receiving patients, communicating laboratory data to ordering parties, maintaining a filing system.
