YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities for this role are below; you may support projects of varying complexity based on skill and organizational priorities.

  • Repossession Leadership: Lead repossession performance and execution across internal teams, onshore vendors, and offshore service providers. Maintain accountability for collateral recovery goals, placement and assignment outcomes, cycle times, inventory management, service levels, quality standards, compliance requirements, expenses, and customer experience expectations.
  • Repossession Strategy and Inventory Optimization: Partner in the development of repossession strategy and lead its execution across assigned inventories and vendor channels. Establish operating priorities and recommend enhancements to placement timing, assignment and reassignment practices, inventory segmentation, vendor allocation, account movement, and performance practices to maximize collateral recovery and reduce losses.
  • Performance and Financial Accountability: Maintain overall accountability for repossession and collateral recovery performance, vendor expenses, inventory outcomes, productivity, quality, customer complaints, cycle times, and service-level results. Use scorecards, operational reporting, and portfolio analytics to identify gaps, set corrective priorities, and ensure actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Repossession Performance Management: Lead the Repossession Performance Manager responsible for performance routines, scorecards, operational reporting, trend analysis, and improvement tracking across the repossession network. Establish performance expectations and ensure insights are translated into clear actions for internal teams and vendors.
  • Vendor Leadership: Set performance expectations and maintain accountability for the onshore repossession agency network and offshore service providers. Oversee vendor strategy, allocation decisions, comparative results, expenses, escalated issues, corrective actions, and recommendations regarding onboarding, continued use, or exit.
  • People Leadership: Lead and develop exempt and non-exempt leaders and staff across repossession operations, vendor management, performance management, and operational support. Establish clear accountability for results, provide timely feedback, support career development and succession planning, and build leadership bench strength.
  • Operating Practices and Controls: Implement and recommend enhancements to repossession procedures, controls, workflow standards, and operating practices throughout the collateral recovery lifecycle. Ensure onshore and offshore work is executed consistently and in accordance with approved procedures and control requirements.
  • Third-Party and Offshore Governance: Maintain management accountability for repossession vendor and offshore service-provider governance in partnership with Third Party Management, Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, and Finance. Ensure due diligence, performance reviews, service-level monitoring, quality controls, corrective action plans, scorecards, and ongoing oversight requirements are completed and escalated appropriately.
  • Technology and Continuous Improvement: Partner with Technology and business stakeholders to implement system enhancements, workflow improvements, reporting enhancements, automation opportunities, and operating efficiencies across repossession activities and onshore/offshore delivery models.
  • Risk, Compliance, and Management Communication: Serve as the management lead for repossession-related audits, examinations, risk assessments, control reviews, complaint trends, and compliance activities. Ensure remediation is executed and provide senior leadership with performance insights, significant issues, emerging risks, regulatory developments, and strategic recommendations.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to new tasks or shifts in priorities as necessary to support your team and the company mission. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 7 years of collections, recovery, repossession, servicing, or related financial services experience, including experience working with onshore and offshore or outsourced operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience with increasing responsibility, including experience leading leaders or multiple operational teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading repossession operations, collateral recovery, vendor programs, performance management, inventory strategies, operational controls, or loss mitigation activities.
  • Experience managing third-party repossession agencies, offshore service providers, or outsourced operations, including performance oversight, scorecards, service levels, quality controls, corrective actions, or vendor governance.
  • Experience implementing repossession strategies, operating procedures, controls, reporting routines, scorecards, or process improvements.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Qualified candidates will possess a strong degree of proficiency, typically developed through 7 or more years of work or practical experience, in:

  • Repossession Operations: Knowledge of repossession operations, collateral recovery practices, placement and assignment strategies, inventory management, operational controls, customer experience requirements, and loss mitigation.
  • Vendor and Offshore Management: Ability to establish performance expectations across onshore agencies and offshore service providers, manage allocation and service levels, evaluate comparative results, monitor expenses and quality, and oversee corrective actions.
  • Performance and Financial Management: Ability to interpret collateral recovery results, vendor performance, inventory trends, placement and assignment outcomes, cycle times, productivity, quality, expenses, complaint activity, and key risk indicators and translate findings into action.
  • Risk and Compliance: Knowledge of repossession laws, collection regulations, consumer lending principles, compliance requirements, third-party governance, risk management practices, and control expectations.
  • Leadership and Partnership: Strong leadership, accountability, analytical ability, decision-making, communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills with leaders, staff, vendors, offshore service providers, business partners, auditors, regulators, and senior management. SKILLS FOR SUCCESS: Qualified candidates will possess an advanced degree of proficiency across a suite of skills including, but not limited to:
  • Repossession Strategy: Experience contributing to strategy development and leading execution of placement, assignment, reassignment, inventory allocation, vendor capacity, and performance-improvement strategies across repossession channels.
  • Performance Leadership: Experience leading managers or performance-focused roles and establishing scorecards, routines, accountability mechanisms, and sustained improvement actions.
  • Operational Improvement: Experience identifying and implementing workflow improvements, automation opportunities, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies across onshore and offshore operating models.
  • Technology and Adaptability: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, operational reporting tools, and repossession or servicing systems, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead change in a highly regulated environment.
