We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Director of Finance to join the pre-opening team of Delano London. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
This role plays a key part in establishing efficient financial processes, supporting operational performance, and developing a high-performing finance team during the hotel's pre-opening phase and beyond. Set to open its doors in 2026, Delano London will fuse historic charm with contemporary luxury, reflecting a reimagined experience that pays homage to the original visionary concept.
The 67-key luxury retreat will blend soft minimalist design, generous living spaces and park views creating a distinctive lifestyle destination where design, dining, nightlife and wellbeing seamlessly converge. What you’ll do… Support the Director of Finance in managing all accounting and finance operations across the hotel, including on-site Food & Beverage activities.
Oversee the full month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reports. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support informed business decisions. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data by implementing effective internal controls, standard operating procedures, and continuous process improvements.
Supervise, coach, and develop the accounting team through training, mentoring, cross-training, and performance management. Manage payroll accounting entries and work closely with Human Resources and external payroll providers to ensure accurate payroll processing. Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to audit queries.
Monitor departmental budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide financial guidance to operational leaders. Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, treasury, and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting timely submissions. Prepare and support tax filings and payments, including VAT returns, PAYE, P11D reporting, and other relevant government obligations.
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers, and regulatory authorities as required. Assist with the implementation of financial systems and controls during the hotel's pre-opening phase. Build strong relationships across departments to support operational efficiency and commercial performance. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Finance or senior leadership team.
What We’re Looking For… 2–3 years' experience within hotel finance or hospitality accounting. Strong knowledge of hotel accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closing processes. Experience with hotel financial systems, including Property Management Systems (PMS), reservation systems, and other hospitality platforms.
Sound understanding of UK statutory compliance, including VAT, PAYE, P11D, payroll, tax, and audit requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Proven ability to prepare complex reconciliations and interpret financial information accurately. Experience supervising or mentoring finance team members.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential financial information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
Thrives in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment. Takes ownership and enjoys improving processes and controls. Is both detail-oriented and commercially minded. Brings a collaborative, positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team. Is adaptable, solutions-focused, and willing to support wherever needed. Has a genuine passion for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences behind the scenes by ensuring financial excellence.
What’s in it for you… The opportunity to launch a visionary hospitality brand in London and have a real impact on its success. Join an innovative, fast-growing, international group that’s committed to not just building new hotels but building a global brand. The chance to challenge the norm and work in an environment that is both creative and rewarding.
Become part of a team that’s very passionate about creating great hospitality experiences and building a portfolio of brands. A competitive package and plenty of opportunity for development.
