Driver CDL 1- Yard Driver

Job Summary

Ferrousouth is seeking a safe, dependable CDL Driver to support our nighttime shipping operations. This position is primarily responsible for pre-loading outbound shipments for daytime drivers, ensuring all assigned loads are properly secured, tarped (when required), and ready for dispatch each morning.

Pay Range

• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job Function Pre-load outbound trucks and trailers according to the nightly loading schedule. Ensure all assigned loads are completed and ready for departure by the start of the day shift. Properly secure and tarp loads in accordance with company, customer, and DOT requirements. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any equipment defects. Move trucks and trailers within the yard as needed to support loading operations. Transport trucks, trailers, and other equipment to and from maintenance vendors in the Tupelo, MS area. Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation. Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and operating procedures. Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations personnel, and maintenance providers. Perform other transportation and yard-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Valid Class A CDL required. Acceptable driving record and ability to meet DOT qualification requirements. Experience with flatbed operations, load securement, and tarping preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail. Ability to climb, bend, lift, and perform physical work associated with load securement and tarping.
