Job Title: Workshop Engineer Location: Birmingham Contract: Full-time, permanent We are looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our Birmingham depot, responsible for carrying out servicing and repairs to the highest standards.

This role is key to ensuring we deliver a first-class service to both internal and external customers, maintaining quality, efficiency, and safety across all work undertaken.

About the Role

Working within a busy workshop environment, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing Volvo construction equipment. You’ll ensure all work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in line with company standards, while contributing to overall workshop performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Service and repair Volvo construction equipment and other machinery as required Carry out work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting additional work where necessary Maintain your personal toolkit to ensure readiness for all tasks Ensure all relevant software updates are completed Complete all required paperwork accurately, including inspection and oil sample reports Record all time and job updates in real time using electronic systems Order and manage parts effectively, ensuring timely returns and condition standards Support operational needs through overtime where required Attend training courses to maintain technical competence Work in line with SMT GB ISO standards for health, safety, quality, and environmental care About You You are a skilled and reliable engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.

With strong technical knowledge and attention to detail, you work effectively both independently and as part of a team, always maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. Engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural or HGV mechanics Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant Strong technical knowledge across diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline and electrical systems Effective communication skills with colleagues, management, and customers Cost-conscious mindset with a focus on efficiency and profitability Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability Basic IT skills for job completion and reporting High attention to detail and quality standards Reliable, conscientious, and professional at all times Desirable: Welding, fabrication, or line boring experience What’s in it for you?
