Job description
The Physician Support Specialist travels with Dr. Joseph and maintains effective and organized systems to ensure effective scheduling and timely patient flow. Provides a smooth and pleasant patient experience and ensures physician’s office schedule is organized and efficient. This is an administrative role, NOT a clinical Medical Assistant role.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates Physician’s schedule to maximize efficiency between clinics, meetings, and conference calls and administratively assists to keep Provider on task to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of appointments Communicates effectively and flexibly responds to changing demands. Triages telephone messages and returns calls to provide timely answers to patients/physicians/pharmacies/attorneys, etc.
Collaborates with coworkers, management, patients, visitors, and Physicians to achieve Practice goals. Rooms, interviews, and transports patients making appointment and scheduling adjustments as required. Addresses scheduling, authorization, and billing issues with an appropriate sense of urgency to ensure prompt and successful resolutions.
Performs other non-clinical duties as directed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in an orthopedic spine practice, pain management center, spine clinic, or hospital Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required Ability to reliably travel between Tampa and Safety Harbor offices as clinic schedule dictates Intermediate experience with All.
Scripts EHR and Microsoft Suite Works effectively both independently and as a team member with physicians, management, and other staff Provides excellent patient care, exceptional customer service, and practices professional telephone etiquette Utilizes good judgment, willingness to learn, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills Remains calm under pressure and manages time efficiently in fast-paced, constantly changing environment Superior attention to detail, accurate written skills, and concise verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, All.
Scripts PM/EHR, and Phreesia software Able to effectively understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English. Must read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear work-related communication and patient safety PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to safely push and maneuver occupied wheelchairs with up to 75 pounds of force.
