A well known Supermarket Brand is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to join the team within a dynamic University setting. As the Store Team Leader, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the store.

You will lead a team, maintain high standards, ensure product availability, and provide outstanding customer service. Collaborating with the Retail Management team, you will work towards achieving targets, managing workloads, and finding effective solutions.

will involve leadership, administration tasks, and a commitment to upholding store standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Retail Management team and General Assistants to provide the best customer experience in line with the Retail's Store Daily brand within a University setting. Take responsibility for opening, operating, and closing the retail unit, ensuring compliance with cash and business controls, as well as policies and procedures.

Lead and motivate the team on a daily basis, ensuring a high-quality service, attractive store presentation, and continuous product availability. Provide training when needed to maintain consistent standards. Foster staff engagement, working together to achieve targets and proactively improve team performance. Assist in preparing weekly rotas based on store performance and budgets, ensuring adherence to cleaning schedules.

Collaborate with the management team to enhance the store's offerings, effectively communicate promotions to customers, and ensure up-to-date point of sale materials. Contribute to the training of new staff members, promoting an inclusive culture focused on delivering exceptional customer service and meeting required standards.

Utilise computerised office systems accurately and effectively, creating and revising documents and reports, and communicating changes with colleagues and customers. Promote equal opportunity in accordance with the University's policy. Take responsibility for your own and colleagues' health and safety, following the University's health and safety policy.

Perform any other reasonable duties allocated by the line manager in consultation with you. Work will involve early starts and late finishes to support the business and includes regular weekend work.

Requirements

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. Face-to-face customer service experience. Intermediate computer skills (Email, Word, Excel). Full UK driving license. Desirable: Retail Management or leadership Certification. Customer Service qualification. Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Essential: Minimum 1-year experience in a team leader position or deputising in this role.

Knowledge of retail management best practices, including stock control and ordering. Experience leading a shift, with excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a positive team culture. Strong training skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback for consistent ways of working. Experience working to targets, sharing them with team members, and a basic understanding of budgets.

Problem-solving abilities for day-to-day operational challenges. Experience promoting a positive team mentality. Flexibility to cover staff shortages and work according to rotas. Good IT skills with intermediate-level experience in email, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Desirable: Experience working in a well-recognised Supermarket brand in a Team Leader position.
