Position Title: (1) Mentor Principal

**Immediate Supervisor: **Principal

**Qualifications: **Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate Endorsed in Principal Completed the Principals Mentor Training Program

**Employment Term: **On an as needed basis for the 2026-2027 school year

Job Summary: Serves as a master principal assigned to a new principal to contact, observe, coach, and mentor on a regular basis.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assists the beginning principal in acquiring materials and other resources;
  • Provides feedback on all professional development provided at the school;
  • Establishes a constructive beginning principal-mentor relationship designed to enhance communication and exchange of ideas;
  • Observes, analyzes, and provides feedback on the beginning principals delivery of his/her instructional program;
  • Advises the beginning principal on strategies to maintain effective school-wide management;
  • Assists the beginning principal in developing methods to appropriately evaluate personal progress;
  • Uses the supervisory techniques necessary to improve the beginning principal's delivery methods;
  • Discusses and puts into practice techniques and/or strategies to improve areas of need;
  • Identifies professional development opportunities that will enhance the beginning principal's subject area knowledge;
  • Disseminates information and encourages the beginning principal's attendance at workshops, seminars, staff development training, and other education offerings;
  • Provides benchmarks for new principal to meet in regards to deadlines and other regulations and polices set forth by the WVDE; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Superintendent or Superintendents Designee.
