Purpose of the Role The HR Officer will provide hands-on generalist HR support across the full employee lifecycle, helping to ensure that Castor Vali's HR operations are efficient, compliant and consistently delivered. Based in Nairobi, the role covers recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, performance management, HR systems and records, benefits administration, learning and development, and HR reporting.

Working with employees and managers in Kenya and across the wider Castor Vali Group, the HR Officer will take ownership of day-to-day HR activities within established policies and processes, provide practical HR support and guidance, and escalate more complex matters where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files and HRIS data, ensuring confidentiality, data protection, data integrity and audit readiness. Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including vacancy advertising, candidate screening, interview coordination and candidate communications. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, including induction, documentation, system requirements and probation tracking.

Coordinate performance management processes, including communications, system administration, documentation and follow-up. Provide first-line HR support and guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures and routine employee matters. Support employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes, investigations, hearings and related correspondence.

Administer employee benefits and monitor leave, sickness and attendance, providing accurate HR information to support payroll processing. Coordinate learning and development activities and maintain accurate training and certification records. Support compliance with employment legislation, company policies and internal and external audit requirements.

Prepare and maintain accurate HR reports and metrics to support management reporting and decision-making. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and ways of working, and take ownership of agreed improvements.

Qualifications

and Experience CHRP qualification and a valid HR practising licence are required. Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related discipline. At least 4 years' relevant generalist HR experience, with hands-on responsibility across a range of HR functions. Strong working knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and experience applying HR policies, procedures and statutory requirements in practice.

Practical experience across recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits and leave administration. Experience supporting disciplinary and grievance processes, including preparing appropriate HR documentation and correspondence. Experience using HR information systems (HRIS) and maintaining accurate employee data and records; experience with BambooHR would be advantageous.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and professional HR correspondence. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Experience within a multi-country or Group environment, or within an organisation operating under a structured compliance or audit framework, would be advantageous.
