City/State: Nyack, New York Department: Nutrition and Dietetics Work Shift: Day Work Days: ALTERNATE WORK SCHEDULE, MON-FRI, WEEKENDS Scheduled Hours: 7:30 AM-4 PM Scheduled Daily Hours: 8 HOURS Hours Per Pay Period: 40 Pay Rate/Range: $79,000-87,000 Job Summary The Clinical Dietitian plans therapeutic diets in accordance with physicians' diagnoses and requirements of regulatory agencies.

The RDN functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team to implement nutrition care plans, meets and counsels' patients on their nutritional needs and care, charts all nutrition-related information in the electronic medical record, and completes all patient assessments within required time frames.

Essential Functions

Demonstrates the technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the successful operations of the department including, where applicable, age specific competency. Demonstrates the ability to interview patient and/or family for nutritional history, obtains patient food preferences, assesses patients’ nutritional needs, formulates an appropriate nutrition intervention using the Nutrition Care Process, and documents in the electronic medical record.

Demonstrates the ability to work with the health care team to implement care plans and meet the patients’ nutritional needs. Participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences and recommends/communicates therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians/nursing for patients, ensuring accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.

Provides nutritional guidance, education and counseling to patients and their families as needed in accordance to the prescribed diet. Able to provide drug/nutrient interaction information to patients as needed. Demonstrates the ability to formulate menus for therapeutic diets based on the medical and physical condition of the patient and integrates patient menus with the basic institutional menu.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field. Required or Masters Preferred Minimum of one year in an acute care setting. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Required or Will accept RD-eligible candidates with strong clinical skills (must obtain RD certification within 3 months of hire).
