About the Role
Join our team as a Data Center Technician in Manassas, United States . This is an onsite, contract/freelance, dispatch-based position where you'll support critical infrastructure at data center facilities in and around the Reston area.
Compensation
& Work Setup Hourly contract/freelance position Paid for actual hours worked on each assignment Assignments may range from a few hours to longer shifts depending on client requirements No guaranteed 8-hour workday or fixed number of hours per week Hourly rate will be discussed based on experience and assignment requirements Work Schedule On-demand / dispatch-based Assignment schedules vary based on client requirements Some assignments may require short-notice availability Nights and weekends may be required depending on the assignment Technicians should be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision onsite Please note: This is not a traditional full-time position.
Assignments and schedules vary based on client demand. Work Authorization Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States for these contract assignments. Visa or work-permit sponsorship is not provided. Candidates must already have the appropriate work authorization and should not require employer sponsorship now or in the future .

Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain server and network equipment Perform structured cabling, including copper and fiber optic Execute hardware deployments, replacements, and decommissions Perform onsite troubleshooting and hardware break/fix Rack, stack, de-rack, and relocate equipment as required Perform power cycling and basic equipment checks Follow MOPs, SOPs, safety procedures, and client requirements Maintain accurate documentation, tickets, photos, and asset records Coordinate with remote engineering, NOC, operations, and client teams Support planned maintenance, upgrades, and infrastructure changes Work independently onsite and escalate issues when required 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber) Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro) Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor environments Own transportation and ability to work on-site Professional communication skills in English Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) - preferred Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - preferred Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems - preferred Familiarity with major colocation providers - preferred Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
