SEMH Teaching Assistant – Norbury, Croydon – September Start
Job description
We are working with a structured secondary school in Norbury, Croydon looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant who can handle challenge without escalating situations. The school needs someone who can stay calm when pupils test boundaries. This is a long-term role starting in September 2026, with strong potential to continue across the academic year.
You will be supporting pupils who need clear boundaries, calm adults and consistent routines. The school is looking for someone who can build trust, manage behaviour professionally and work alongside experienced staff. What the role involves:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, behaviour needs and additional learning needs
- Helping pupils stay regulated and engaged in learning
- Working with teachers, pastoral staff and behaviour leads
- Long-term, consistent work rather than random day-to-day cover What they are looking for:
- A calm, firm and reliable personality
- Experience in schools, youth work, mentoring, PRU/AP or behaviour support
- Someone who can de-escalate, not inflame situations
