Core Responsibilities
- Technical Design & Coordination of Lighting & Electrical Scope: Coordinate all aspects of constructed electrical and lighting plans with the project design team, consultants, contractors and production department heads to ensure power, pathways, low voltage and other aspects of the lighting system are installed and operate as required.
- Shop Prep: In conjunction with the local Production Electrician, oversee coordination and technical design of the show lighting system, including shop prep, shop prep labor and all advance paperwork.
- Set Electrics: Oversee the technical design and implementation of set electrics, LED lighting, low voltage electronics and other lighting elements built in to Scenery and Decore elements.
- Blacktrax: Oversee design, implementation and staff training on the Blacktrax lighting control system.
- Show Operation & Crew Supervision: In conjunction with the local Production Electrician, Coordinate and oversee all work performed by the local electrics crew, run-crew, board operators, and follow-spot operators during load-ins, tech rehearsals, and performances.
- Implementation: Interpret lighting plots, Lightwright paperwork, and designer schematics to execute the artistic vision.
- Installation & Focus: Oversee the "hang and focus" of fixtures, installation of cables, and design and set up of dimmers and data networks.
- Equipment Maintenance: In conjunction with the local Production Electrician, oversee maintenance, repair, and testing of fixtures, cables, and lighting boards to ensure rigorous safety and performance standards.
- Safety & Code Compliance: Ensure all power supplies, drops, and scenic electrical elements adhere to both safety codes and venue standards.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of electrical theory, stage power distribution, data control networks (such as DMX/Ethernet) and Blacktrax control systems.
- Equipment Familiarity: Expertise with conventional lighting, automated/moving fixtures (LEDs, moving heads), industry-standard control consoles (e.g., ETC EOS family) and CC TV networks.
- Physical & Spatial Aptitude: Ability to work at heights (on ladders, lifts, and catwalks), lift heavy equipment, and tolerate long hours during tech periods.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills to liaise effectively between the lighting designer, technical director, stage management, and the electrics team.

Compensation:

$500.00 per day (£375.00) in the shops and in the theater

$50.00 per hour all other advance or off premises work

Travel (If required and pre-approved):

Premium Economy air travel between UK & USA

Coach/economy air travel within the continental US

Local transfers to/from airports as required

Excess baggage fees if any

Out of Pocket Expense Reimbursement:

Reimbursement for all approved out-of-pocket production expense.

Reimbursement for out-of-pocket local transportation when required for business (not to include commuting to/from work).
