Job Summary

In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment. Melrose, Tufts, Framingham, Dedham, Attleboro Job Description: What you will do:

  • Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  • Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  • Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
  • Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  • Refilm cases as time allows
  • Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed. Required Qualifications What you need:
  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
