Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Contract Duties: a. Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies. b. Manage and review bills of quantities, tender documents, and procurement strategies. c. Support risk analysis and value engineering exercises.
- Contract Management: a. Administer contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, or local forms). b. Evaluate and negotiate tenders and subcontractor agreements. c. Monitor contract compliance and change management.
- Cost Control and Reporting: a. Track budget vs actual costs, provide cost forecasts, and mitigate variances. b. Approve and certify interim payments, variations, and claims. c. Provide monthly cost reports and financial dashboards to stakeholders.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: a. Mentor and supervise junior QS staff. b. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and finance teams. c. Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants professionally.
- Post-Contract Duties: a. Prepare and negotiate final accounts. b. Support audits and project close-out reporting. c. Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIArb, ICE, or local equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead QS role.
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and cost management software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Excel).
