Job description

Posting Title: Gastroenterologist Industry: Hospital Salary: ₹5.9LPM to 6LPM Work Experience: 0-1 year Responsibilities: Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Polypectomy, Variceal Band Ligation, PEG Tube placement, Liver Biopsy, and Capsule Endoscopy.

Evaluate and manage patients with complex GI conditions such as GI bleeding, IBD (Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis), Hepatitis (viral and non-viral), Cirrhosis, Fatty Liver Disease, Pancreatitis, and Gallbladder Disorders. Conduct and oversee GI cancer screening programs, including colorectal cancer prevention and early detection initiatives.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and nutritionists to develop individualized patient care plans. Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards. Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital-based research projects related to gastroenterology.

Provide timely consultations and follow-up care, ensuring continuity and patient satisfaction. Stay current with evolving clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices in gastroenterology through continuous professional development.

Requirements

MBBS degree with MD/DM in Gastroenterology or equivalent postgraduate qualification. Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and State Medical Council. Proven hands-on experience in performing and managing a wide range of endoscopic procedures including ERCP, EUS, Polypectomy, and Variceal Band Ligation.

Demonstrated competence in diagnosing and managing common and complex GI conditions such as IBD, Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, Fatty Liver, Pancreatitis, and Gallbladder Disorders. Experience in GI Bleeding management, including endoscopic hemostasis and risk stratification. Familiarity with GI cancer screening protocols and guidelines (e.

g., colorectal cancer screening). Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment with minimal supervision. Proficiency in medical documentation, electronic health records (EHR), and digital imaging systems. Willingness to participate in on-call duties and emergency endoscopy as required.
