Job description
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
- Provide nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
- Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
- Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift.
- Perform Daily routine:
- Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
- Prepares and tidies beds before arrival of patient’s and linens, and as needed.
- Organizes patients’ belongings and furniture during round.
- Keeps the patients feeling comfortable and cheerful by giving them blankets if they are cold, positioning them.
- Disinfects beds, medical equipment, chairs and cardiac tables after used.

- Keeps the ward area, store and its facilities clean and tidy.
- Assist the patient with filling the hot water flask if needed.
- Answer phone calls and relay messages.
- Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
- Assists nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
- Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the unit to other areas upon discharge.
- Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results
- Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
- Inform maintenance request for portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
- Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
- Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, removal of cannula, catheterization, etc.
- Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
- Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and update in charge tickets.
- Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
- Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
- Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
