Job Description: The purpose of this role is to develop and lead implementation of the Global Petcare Segment Food Safety strategy and programme and to provide expert support and leadership to the Petcare Segment Regional teams in food safety matters, including incident resolution. Lead the identification of food safety needs & opportunities in the Petcare segment. Lead development & execution of a segment Food Safety Governance programme (maintenance & improvement) to address these needs & opportunities, including the development of segment-specific standards and best practices when required. Lead the community of Regional Petcare Food Safety associates to drive & deploy standards, align on implementation detail & build expertise within the segment.
Line management for 7 direct reports and lead the Global Petcare FS team. Drive Food Safety, Microbiology and Toxicology competency development across the Global Petcare Segment by developing training tools and conducting training sessions. Collaborate with Global segment Engineering, IEs, and GICs teams to ensure Quality & Food Safety requirements are included in technology standards and best practices.
Ensure alignment within Petcare Q&FS community on the above Quality & Food Safety requirements & solutions so that there is no ‘relitigation’ of technology standards in the regions. Provide necessary direction into the Q&FS CAB process (Global and Regional teams). Provide necessary direction in the establishment of the MRAs/PRAs.
Collaborate effectively with the Corporate Q&FS team, Global Food Safety Center (GFSI in Beijing) and across segments in the development & deployment of Food Safety standards, ensuring that Petcare needs are prioritized as appropriate. Identify Global Petcare Segment research needs and establish a supporting food safety science research portfolio in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Participate with the FS team to incident support and management of situation (support in investigation, SIRB CAPA follow up, rootcause analysis – 5Whys, FMEA – reporting,…). As the subject matter expert, provide with the FS team members science based solutions & expert support to food safety incidents across the Global Petcare Segment.
In collaboration with the Global SRA team and all relevant Mars Inc teams, in charge of reviewing the Corporate Food Safety Horizon scanning and highlighting the appropriate and most relevant items for Petcare to be working on Provide necessary support and expertise to segment CA and PA teams to ensure that Petcare & Mars Inc interests are reflected in external organization positions and ultimately in regulatory policies.
