Position Overview
The Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across the organization. This individual owns core accounting processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while providing meaningful insights that strengthen revenue performance and leadership decision-making.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ownership, precision, and continuous improvement — and who wants to help build strong financial systems in a growing healthcare organization. What Success Looks Like (12–18 Months) Month-end close is completed accurately and on time with minimal rework. 100% of balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly with full documentation.
Reconciliation and accounting processes are standardized and consistently followed. Payment and denial trends are clearly analyzed and shared with leadership. Financial reporting is reliable, consistent, and audit-ready. Leadership receives accurate, actionable financial insights. The Controller is freed up to focus on higher-level strategy.
Continuous improvements and automation opportunities are identified and implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reconciliation Own the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, AR, AP, payroll, accruals, prepaids, etc.) Prepare and post journal entries Investigate and resolve reconciling items Maintain organized reconciliation schedules and documentation Support month-end and year-end close Reporting, Payments & Denials Analysis Collect and analyze payment and denial data Identify reimbursement trends, risks, and improvement opportunities Provide regular reporting to the CEO, Controller, and Billing Management Partner with Billing to improve revenue cycle performance Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules Assist with variance analysis and forecasting Support budgeting and ad hoc financial projects Compliance & Controls Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls Maintain audit-ready documentation Support external audits Process Improvement Document and improve accounting SOPs Identify automation and efficiency opportunities Collaboration Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Billing, and leadership Proactively communicate risks and opportunities Key Performance Indicators Month-end close completed by deadline 100% monthly balance sheet reconciliations Accuracy and timeliness of reporting Reduction in unidentified reconciling items Reduction in unexplained denials Minimal post-close adjustments Clean audit findings What You Bring Core Competencies Strong GAAP knowledge Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) Exceptional attention to detail Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills Organized, deadline-driven, and proactive Clear and confident communicator Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) 3–5 years of accounting experience (healthcare or revenue cycle experience strongly preferred) Proven experience with month-end close and reconciliations Experience with accounting systems and professional-level Excel usage Preferred Certifications CPA or CPA candidate preferred CMA or related certification a plus Who You Are (GWC) Gets It: You understand accounting fundamentals and how revenue-cycle performance impacts financial health.
