JOB DESCRIPTION: Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Consistently maintain established production goals while meeting or exceeding defined quality standards throughout the Pre. Coding process. Identify and trend results and processes to develop and maintain a standardized Pre. Coding workflow and cadence Participate in system testing as needed to support system, application upgrades, and all processes and procedures Document verification using approved notation standards within the charge entry application and Hospital EMR Promote a team environment demonstrating our core values to achieve all departmental goals and supporting individual professional development Actively participate in meetings and educational programs to improve both individual and team quality Comply with HIPAA requirements in relation to all chart activities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently, displaying a keen eye for attention to detail, and providing an accurate status of progress, issues, and risks on all work Ability to exercise considerable individual judgment and initiative, and to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Ability to work under moderate stress and pressure while maintaining a positive, professional manner, both in person, via phone, e-mail, and all other written communications Ability to produce quality, timely results, and exhibit good organizational and time-management skills Must work well with others, exhibiting professional courtesy and excellent customer relation skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of professionals, including leadership Ability to effectively solve problems and to collect and analyze data Willingness to adhere to productivity goals and departmental guidelines Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with advanced Excel skills EDUCATION (Required and/or preferred): High school diploma or equivalent FIELD OF STUDY (preferred): Business or healthcare-related field SUPERVISION EXERCISED: The HM Pre. Coding Specialist works independently under general supervision while adhering to established policies, procedures, and production standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
3 years of experience in a medical (billing preferably) and or revenue cycle environment Knowledge of EMR documentation systems preferred Certification and Licenses: N/A CONTACTS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION: Frequent contact, meetings, and collaboration with training and auditing teams WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works independently, typically a 40-hour work week to include overtime as required Continuous sitting Psychological stress/pressure levels may be moderate to high Frequent oral & written communication and listening skills Extensive computer use The job requires a high level of mental awareness and concentration ability Pay Range: 18.
00 - 26.00 USD per hour This range represents the anticipated base salary for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
