- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Pay Rate: Starts at $21.50/hr can go up DOE Purpose: (General description and summary) The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure a safe, clean and sanitary workspace in the Commercial Kitchen. The Prep Cook provides support to the Cooks and Catering Manager as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Wash es dishes as they are brought in . Maintain s a clean and sanitary workspace at all times. Observe s safety regulations and procedures. Maintain s the cleanliness and safety of ki tchen and of food storage areas. Assists Cooks and Catering Manager with prep work, wrapping, and storage as needed. Safely practice s heavy lifting and carrying with the help of another person if necessary.
Work s for long periods on feet, including standing, walking, and stair climbing Repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, bending, some stooping and twisting . Communicate s clearly, including reading, writing and speaking Work s around and with heat sources such as oven and stovetop . Work s around and with cleaning agents such as bleach and other caustic chemicals .
Work s around and with sharp objects such as knives . Complete s daily cleaning of all surfaces including sinks, stovetops and sides, refrigerators on both interior and exterio r, walls, counters and flooring. Completes daily closing duties, including: Cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, etc .
Sweeping and mopping Works efficiently in a high pace and potentially stressful environment. Interact s in a positive and professional manner with other employees, management, and consumers . Observes a fixed work schedule, and communicates any deviations from this schedule to a supervisor in advance. Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor in a timely manner .

Qualifications
Employee must be able to pass a criminal background check Employee must maintain Oregon Food Handler’s Card Employee must have previous experience working in the food service industry Employee must have demonstrated knife skills, and safely handle knives and other sharp kitchen instruments All of our job openings are located in Portland, Oregon, and the surrounding metro areas.
