About the Role
Join our team as a Data Center Technician in Osaka-Shi Kita-Ku, Japan . This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll support critical infrastructure at world-class data center facilities.
Compensation
Hourly contract rate – based on experience and assignment requirements Technicians are paid for the actual hours worked on each assignment. There is no guaranteed 8-hour workday, minimum weekly hours, or fixed number of hours per week. The hourly rate, payment currency, invoicing schedule, and other assignment-specific terms will be confirmed during recruitment and documented in the applicable contract or Statement of Work (SOW).
Any applicable travel allowance or additional assignment compensation will be confirmed separately. Work Setup/Engagement Type Independent contractor/freelance arrangement, not traditional full-time employment. On-demand, dispatch-based assignments. Flexible scheduling depending on client requirements and available work.
Some assignments may require only a few hours, while others may require a full day or longer. Assignments may occur during regular hours, nights, weekends, or on short notice. Technicians should be comfortable working independently onsite with minimal supervision. Work is generally within or near the technician's local area.
Assignment availability and workload depend on client demand. Each assignment may have specific requirements, rates, and terms confirmed through a separate SOW or assignment confirmation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic) Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling Perform cross-connects and patch panel work Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues Document all work with photos and detailed notes Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams 3+ years data center operations experience Expert cabling skills (Cat6/6a, OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Experience with rack and stack operations Understanding of power distribution and UPS systems Excellent documentation and communication skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in demanding environments Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, CDCE) - preferred Vendor certifications (Dell, HPE, Cisco) - preferred Network certifications (CCNA, JNCIA) - preferred Experience with DCIM platforms - preferred Knowledge of ITIL practices - preferred
