Job description

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience as an Epic Principal Trainer or Epic End User Trainer, with strong expertise in Patient Access, Cheers, Cadence, Grand Central, Welcome, Registration, Scheduling , or related Epic applications. The consultant must be able to quickly integrate into an established healthcare training environment and provide immediate value in preparing clinical and operational teams for successful Epic utilization.

Key Objectives Accelerate Epic user adoption and operational readiness. Support instructor-led and virtual Epic training programs. Deliver workflow-based training tailored to operational teams. Enhance end-user proficiency and confidence in Epic applications. Support go-live preparation and post-training follow-up activities.

Collaborate with Yale Medicine stakeholders to improve learning outcomes and training effectiveness. Primary Responsibilities Epic Training Delivery Deliver Epic end-user training sessions in classroom, virtual, and hybrid environments. Facilitate role-based and workflow-based Epic training programs. Conduct hands-on system demonstrations and practice exercises.

Reinforce Epic best practices and operational workflows. Support learner competency assessments. Principal Trainer Support Assist in the development and maintenance of Epic training curricula. Review and update training materials, job aids, quick reference guides, and learning plans. Align educational content with current Epic workflows and organizational standards.

Participate in training strategy discussions and readiness planning. Workflow-Based Education Analyze operational workflows and identify training opportunities. Translate Epic functionality into business and clinical use cases. Support scheduling, registration, patient engagement, and access management workflows. Provide coaching to end users on workflow optimization.

End-User Readiness & Adoption Serve as a trusted advisor for Epic users and operational teams. Support adoption initiatives and change management activities. Facilitate user engagement sessions and feedback workshops. Identify knowledge gaps and recommend remediation plans. Track user readiness and training completion metrics.

Go-Live & Hypercare Support Participate in go-live readiness activities. Provide at-the-elbow support to Epic users. Assist with issue triage and user guidance. Support stabilization efforts during hypercare periods. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with: Yale Medicine Training & Development Team Operational Leaders Clinical Teams Project Managers Epic Application Teams Participate in project meetings and status reviews.

Communicate training progress, risks, and recommendations. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in: Healthcare Administration Education Health Informatics Business Administration Information Technology Related discipline Experience 3+ years of Epic training experience. Experience supporting healthcare provider organizations.

Experience delivering instructor-led training. Experience providing workflow-based Epic education. Experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, or optimization initiatives. Experience with adult learning methodologies. Epic Credentials (Required) One or more of the following: Epic Principal Trainer Certification Epic Credentialed Trainer Status Epic End User Trainer Experience Preferred application experience in: Epic Patient Access Epic Cheers Epic Cadence Epic Grand Central Epic Welcome Epic Registration Epic Scheduling Epic MyChart Related Epic Access and Patient Engagement Applications Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Academic Medical Centers.

Experience supporting large healthcare organizations. Go-live and hypercare support experience. Change management experience. Knowledge of healthcare operations and patient access workflows. Experience with training program development and curriculum design. Review training strategy, curricula, workflows, and schedules. Familiarize with Epic training environments. Meet key stakeholders and operational leaders. Assess training priorities and learner populations. Month 1-2: Training Execution Deliver instructor-led Epic training sessions. Facilitate workflow-focused workshops.

Conduct learner competency validations. Provide ongoing coaching and support. Collect learner feedback. Month 2-3: Adoption & Optimization Support user adoption initiatives. Reinforce workflow compliance and best practices. Assist with remediation training where needed. Monitor readiness indicators and adoption metrics.

Month 3-4: Sustainment & Knowledge Transfer Support ongoing operational readiness. Deliver refresher sessions. Update training materials and documentation. Provide recommendations for long-term adoption strategies. Transition knowledge to internal Yale Medicine training staff. Success Criteria The consultant will be considered successful when they: Rapidly integrate into the Yale Medicine Training & Development team.

Deliver high-quality Epic training with minimal ramp-up time. Improve Epic user readiness and adoption. Support operational teams in executing standardized workflows. Contribute to successful Epic deployment, optimization, and stabilization efforts. Maintain high learner satisfaction and stakeholder confidence. Ideal Candidate Profile An Epic-certified or Epic-credentialed healthcare training professional with Principal Trainer or End User Training experience who can immediately support Yale Medicine's training initiatives, deliver engaging workflow-based instruction, and drive Epic adoption across Patient Access, Cheers, and related Epic applications during a focused 3-4 month engagement.
