Ultrasonographer

Job Purpose:

Applies insonating ultrasound energy to human tissue for diagnostic purposes upon written request of a physician or other medical practitioner.

Duties:

Positions patients accurately to produce sonograms as prescribed by a physician. Has correct understanding of ultrasound physics and machine knobology to produce accurate sonograms and troubleshoot equipment failure. Maintains good working rapport with staff physicians and Medical Director of Diagnostic Ultrasound to provide excellent patient care. Processes and critiques images to be read by radiologists. Shares in call status to provide "around the clock" coverage for emergencies as prescribed by a qualified physician. Vascular experience preferred but not required.
