Job description

Our client is seeking a passionate and scientifically minded Entomologist to join their growing operation in Citrusdal. This opportunity is ideal for a professional who enjoys combining research, data analysis, and practical production support within a biologically sensitive environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving insect rearing processes, optimizing production performance, supporting innovation initiatives, and providing scientific expertise to operational teams.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and evaluate production and research trials to improve operational performance and biological outcomes. Monitor insect health, lifecycle performance, and productivity, identifying opportunities for improvement and corrective action. Analyze production and biological data to identify trends, risks, and performance improvement opportunities.

Develop reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support informed decision-making by stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and production outputs. Support the optimization and scaling of production processes to improve yield and operational effectiveness. Monitor colony health, genetic stability, and strain performance, implementing improvement strategies where required.

Collaborate with production, research, and management teams to provide scientific guidance and practical biological solutions. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant laboratory and production standards Requirements An Honours or Master's Degree in Entomology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.

Minimum of 2 years' experience within insect rearing, biological production, laboratory, or research environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong data analysis and technical report-writing skills. Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles and their application. Experience working with laboratory equipment, including microscopes.

Valid driver's license.
